Welcome to my Paradise - the beautiful islands of the Philippines

I was born in this beautiful country of the Philippines and have spent a 20-something summers here. It’s not a perfect place but it does have its good points - it’s home.
People from the Philippines are warm and easygoing
Filipinos are known to be warm. It’s pretty easy for us to assimilate with foreigners because we learn English at a young age and we’re generally easygoing. A lot of Westerners like to date Filipina girls, especially those from the provinces, partly because they’re pretty submissive. I know foreign girls also like to date Pinoys (short for Filipinos) partly because they grow up respectful of women. They would get their ears pulled (”pingot”) if they try to be rude to their mom, sister, teacher, or any other female.
Philippines - a developing country still
The rich get richer and the poor get poorer. This is partly due to the lack of financial literacy, which I personally advocate at mariecasas.com. I do my part by giving financial consultations to people around me and to anyone who asks. Sorry, I’m getting off track. The market has been bullish since 2003 and is currently experiencing a slowdown. Still the industries of energy and mining, business process outsourcing and offshoring (BPO), and real estate continue to grow. Our group Pigmata Media wants to help grow the Philippine web startup industry.
Party hard in this Paradise
We have quite a few golf courses; the nicest I think is the course in Tagaytay Highlands. Almost everyone fancies going to the mall, enjoy the A/C (because it’s always so freakin’ hot!), and maybe do some shopping in between. You have a date, have a reunion with high school friends, catch a movie, buy grocery, pay utility bills, all in a trip to the mall. It’s pretty convenient but it takes a toll on the restaurants and other businesses that aren’t located in the mall. Night life is a whole other topic! We definitely party hard. This is, after all, the home of the famous San Miguel beer.
Giving you a taste of my island paradise.
